Parklife Weekender Advert Finished Project & Evaluation

Although my 2D animation was a success I think there is still room for improvement which for example my timing needed to be more in point I noticed some miner delays which could have been easily resolved, and will be something I'll make a priority so that it improves my work.

Using survey monkey I set up an online questionnaire, which I posted on a social website which is most popular for researchers collecting qualitative research. The results were very clear 30% of people who thought the parklife weekender advertisement was a success although compared to the existing advert it took a different approach which made it more unique. 40% of people said the style of the advert was different to ones you see on TV everyday, and the remaining 30% of people said that it would definitely appeal to the audience.

Candy Pops Yogurt Tops Finished Project & Evaluation

Although I edited my animation to the best of my ability and stuck to my criteria I think the animation itself would have been more of a smoother finish and added more frames so that it wouldn't look as jumpy or delayed and perhaps perfect my modelling skills.

In conclusion for the next 3D animation I create it'll be my main concern to choose something that is easier to create and more so that I can relate it to some of the 3D animation advertisements on the television today. Using survey monkey I set up an online questionnaire to get some research 50% said that it wouldn't be aired on the television because it doesn't look professional and the timing is delayed. 20% said that it appeals to the audience that its aimed at however the remaining 30% said that it needs improving.

Influential Animators

Hello people of the internet!

I will be writing about the importance of 3 influential animators; Hanna Barbera, Walt Disney and Warner Bros.

Hanna Barbera production was an American animation studio which took over American television for near enough four decades in the mid-to-late 20th century. William Hanna and Joseph Barbera were the creators of the famous television shows "Tom & Jerry", "The Flintstones", "Scooby-Doo and "The Smurfs" among others earning 8 emmy's, a golden globe award and getting a star on the Hollywood walk of fame along with other achievements. Although Hanna- Barbera weren't pioneers, like other animatos they were proficient in "limited animation" style in order to fufill the "time vs expenses" demands of television productions. Their overall style consisted of appealing but simplified character and setting designs, all adding to the overall stylistically flat appearance. Most of their shows involved animals as central characters, with "realistic" animals capable of understanding human speech and concepts; to talking animals with varied fluency in the English language; to upright walking animals wearing clothes and using props. Many of their iconic classic comedy cartoon characters wore stylized interpretations of out-of-fashion hats, resembling, for example, the pork pie, along with pieces of formal wear, which became part of their trademark design style.

Backgrounds were also common in the stylistically limited approach of the studio, often resulting in repeated imagery in scenes involving moving shots with longer camera holds, such as walk sequences, all of which has become part of the cliche look, often still imitated today, sometimes as parody or for humorous effect.

Walt Disney, was the inventor of  a technique called Rotoscoping in which he used to create "Snow White". They used a real life model dressed in the costume and began tracing the movement of her body, this gave a more natural and realistic look to the Snow White character. The multiplane camera was also used in his silly symphonies such as "The Old Mill" and "Mickey Mouse", in 1932, Disney received a special Academy Award for the creation of "Mickey Mouse", a series which switched to color in 1935.

Disney was most famous for the 1937-1941 Golden age of American animation, his films made him famous but it was his work for other peoples adverts that he helped with begin making the successful full length films and silly symphonies. In 1928 steamboat willie was the first cartoon to have synchronised sound and after that he began to make more silly symphonies with sound this took a turn for success amongst other famous animators. In 1940 Fantasia was the first film to use stereophonic sound and this soon was used in all his films. 2009 was when the last traditional film was made, this was "The Princess and the Frog" not only was it the last film made traditionally it was also the first film with an African American princess. Disney went on to create more disney films using CGI (computer generated images).

Warner Brothers were founded in 1923, by Albert Warner, Harry Warner, Sam Warner and Jack Warner. They made motion pictures, television programmes and video games, during world war I they created their first nationally syndicated film "My First Four Years In Germany" which was based on a book made by American ambassador James W. Gerard. The success in which put the Warner Bros on the Hollywood map was the 1918 "Rin Tin Tin" but sadly they still didn't achieve star power.

It was on till the 1930's when the birth of Warner cartoons began; they introduced there first character Bosko in their first Loony tunes cartoo,"Sinking in the bubble bath" and created a sister series as well as "Merrie Melodies" in 1930.

Proposal for 2D Animation

Proposal for 2D Animation

Introduction

For this product I will be making an animated advertisement for The Warehouse Project's Parklife Festival which will air on the MTV channel. For my theme I will be thinking about different styles of animation in which I could use to have that attention grabbing affect on my target audience.

Working Title:

WHP Parklife Weekender

Medium to be used:

The medium I will be is the cut out animation style, I will use a white background and using a light and some shaped cut out card and photographed models in different frames of movements. My aim is to create the atmosphere of a music festival and turn it into an advertisement that will then appeal to the Parklife audience.

Intended Audience:

My 2D advertising animation will be aimed at both gender from the ages of 16-30+. The advertisement should appeal to an audience that has an interest in mainstream music artist an that also enjoy live music entertainment.

Indication of the style:

For my 2D animation I would like it to be a cut out animation style, brightly coloured and different prints, for the characters I would like to use photographed images.

Summary of content:

Eadweard Muybridge

Eadweard Muybridge

Edward James Muggeridge had many different names for himself, however many were very opinionated of him as a person and of his work. Growing up Edward was known for inventing a new trick or toy, he had said do a relative that he was going to make something of himself and that if he didn't he would never be seen again. He was a man of many jobs, he like to think a himself as a scientist, an artist, a pioneer and he was adamant to be in the lime light; he made his way to America.

After five years of being in America it was 1855 when his name was first recognized as a bookseller and went by the surname "Muggridge". He soon realized that it wasn't what he wanted to do with his life, so of course he announced to the public that he was in fact leaving the US. On his journey to leave America his stagecoach had crashed leaving Edward suffering with a head injury causing him to see double vision. He had said that his whole life had flashed before his eyes and that he had experienced a kind of spiritual sign so he went back to England in 1861. Six years later after learning the wet collodion process creating many pieces of photographs one of which was of a light house with he had models pose in very precise places in the image the sky showed up white and so the clouds were taken separately later then to be added to the finished piece.

In 1867 Edward had changed his name to Helious and He became a chemist alongside being a photographer he learnt from other famous artists such as William Keith's landscape paintings. He boasted about his work to the press calling the photographs the most exquisite views ever created, people descibed him as more of a salesman than an inventor or a scientist. Edward liked the instability, darkness, and loneliness of his photos and new exactly what would and wouldn’t sell. In the marketing industry the wilderness was the fashion of that particular time and that is what Edward sold along with some others, which inspired people to travel to America. Edward started using stereoscopic images (two images side by side) of America's railway as well as buildings which were getting taller and the images sold all over the world. He captured image of himself under a giant tree which was different to the images he had done in the past in this particular image he looks very uncomfortable, serious and some what lonely.

Later on he met his wife Flora Shallcross Stone who was still married to a previous partner but Muybridge paid for her to get a divorce and soon after married her. Eadward went away to work as he was approached by a client who had asked if its was possible to photograph a horse with all 4 legs in the air which Muybridge thought was very unlikely until he created a type of stop motion a shutter which would open and close, although the experiment didn't entirely work he still had captured proof that the horses 4 legs were in fact off the ground and he was still in headlines which caused some reporters to question his discovery and began mocking him but it didn't stop Eadweard.

Flora fell pregnant and soon after gave birth to a boy who was named Florado Muybridge, his wife had an affair and so He took the new railway up to Napa Valley journeyed up to Yellow Jacket ranch and shot Flora's lover (Harry Larkyn).

After the shooting Muybridge had changed completely and begun to perfect the photograph of the horse with all 4 feet off the air. He took a different approach by creating a mechanism that took several pictures of the horse. This was called stop motion it improved his discovery. Leland Stanford who was working with Eadweard at the time took full credibility for his work, which inspired Muybridge to create more similar images of different animals then people in the nude. As time went by more artists and filmmakers were inspired by Muybridge’s stop motion theory and began using it in films.
